CCSC is My Lucky Star

by Xiao Ping Chen

(Lincoln High School)

Step into the new year, I wish CCSC will do even better than before.

Hereby, I am very happy and glad to share my appreciation of the FIT program with everybody. This is the second year I joined the happy family of the FIT program and in the last year, I learn a lot from them: They opened up my eyes and became my guiding light. To a new immigrant like me, CCSC and FIT program are synonyms as benevolence.

At the time when I arrived in the United States, everything seems so new and strange. I had no friend, and no one to lean on. Due to this reason, I started to feel helplessness and afraid. To my luck, there was a wonderful not for profit organization, called CCSC that delivers FIT program ill my campus. They provided me with many unconditional help and assistance on academic and other issues as well. They helped me resolved many problems that contributes only to the new immigrants.

Through these periods I was with them, they held many activities. From these activities, they taught us how to face a new culture, what kinds of custom or behavior should we adopt in order to approach other people. We visited campuses and had some out door field trips to many places.

The time when I was transferred from Newcomer High School to Abraham Lincoln High School, all other problem surfaced. It was hard to face a whole new environment after I was comforted in Newcomer with my friends. Related to my academic matters, I started to face some difficulties again. Fortunately, FIT program was extended to Lincoln High School right after I arrived my now campus. With FIT programs' lunch hour and after school tutoring and assistance, I was able to stand up to face my school works and regain the control of my school life again.

In Short, CCSC and FIT program is my lucky star. Not only they are the guiding light of the new immigrants, they are our mentors who are directing us to our success.

Thank you, CCSC
