Neighborhood Involvement
Through our
community work, CCSC has established an extensive network with diverse
organizations in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area to assist
participants with additional supportive services. Organizations such as
San Francisco Wu Yee Children's Center, local YMCA/YWCA offices and many
local job-training agencies are long-term partners of CCSC. We have a
15-year partnership with City College and a 12-year partnership with the
Department of Public Health. We have collaborated with Wu Yee Children’s
Services, Chinatown Community Children’s Center, and Head Start
Childcare Centers. We have presented the Cantonese Opera in San Francisco,
and we have a history of working with local unions and many restaurants to
provide employment for our clients and employees for these employers. Also, through our
FIT program, we assist the elderly at On-Lok Senior Center and at
Self-Help For The Elderly on a volunteer basis. FIT convened its own Moon
Festival for students from Lincoln, Newcomer and Galileo for the first
time this year. The Moon Festival is an event designed to bring families
in the community closer through opening channels of communication and
stimulating discussion in a friendly atmosphere. CCSC has a
consistent record of participation in Chinatown neighborhood cleanup
activities. In 1999 and 2000, CCSC partnered with the Mayor’s Office in
extensive Chinatown cleanup and maintenance programs and neighborhood
beautification projects. In 2000, CCSC
served as the convenor and focal point of the San Francisco Spring
Chinatown Cleanup, efficiently recruiting and coordinating 300 volunteers,
City and State agencies and community based organizations for the
Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Beautification. |
